Where to place tropical fish tanks

Placement of the tropical fish tanks is very very important. Think it deeply before deciding where to put it because a fully set up tank is very heavy and you won’t be able to move it and even if you do you will mess up things inside.
Here are a few tips on it that may help you:
1. Placement
Don’t place a tank near a window or in the reach of heavy sunlight. It will be hard to admire your aquarium but the real reason that you don’t want to do that is that you will constantly fight algae (lost cause) and there will be a high variance of temperature inside your tank. You don’t want your fish to boil in 40 degrees Celsius (100 F) water. Also, stay away from heaters.
2. Consider weight
You must also consider that fully equipped aquarium with water weights very much, for larger tanks you may even want to check the construction plans to see if your floor can handle it. For smaller ones you just want to make sure that you have a solid cabin ( specially made for aquariums is recommended). And make sure that the place when you want your aquarium is perfectly leveled, otherwise it will look bad and may cause an overflow.
3. Traffic
It is best to choose a place where there will be a moderate amount of people passing by, you don’t want your fish to be frightened by large traffic but at the same time you want to accustom them to people.
4. Safety
Make sure that your aquarium is standing in a place where you won’t be able to accidentally unplug a device such as filter, by the time you realize what happened it can cause a serious damage to biological stability inside your tank. Therefore it is recommended to choose a place in a corner or one that don’t receive lots of human traffic.

Due to their very dense coat, chinchilla’s require a chinchilla dust bath to clean their coat. Their fur collects oils and moisture and in the wild, chinchillas would roll around in volcanic ash which absorbs any moisture, therefore, it is essential to provide pet chinchillas with a dust bath.

Everyone wants to make their room look beautiful. For that you can place one tropical fish tank in your room. It will be the focal point and all your guests will appreciate your taste. Many people feel that the setup of the fish tank is tough but that is not true. In the following article we are going to discuss a few simple steps to maintain a tropical fish tank in your room. This is an interesting thing and you surely will enjoy doing it.
When you are planning to buy an aquarium you must check the lighting in it. You can opt for smaller or bigger tank according to the size of the room. If the aquarium is bigger then it will be easy for you to maintain. However the equipments are a bit costly in case of bigger aquarium. To maintain an aquarium properly you need an aquarium of 12 inch width and height both. This is an ideal size that will fit into a smaller and bigger room both. Here you will get the space to keep multiple types of fishes. You need to buy aquarium with good quality filter to maintain is properly. You need sand, thermometer and heater so that you can maintain the temperature of the water. You also need to main the lights and temperature properly. For a 12 inch aquarium 150 watts are perfect. Light depends on the size of your aquarium and you need to be careful about it. If there is more or lesser light that required then the fishes will suffer badly. You definitely do not want that. You need to keep the light on for 8-9 hours a day. If you keep it on for more than that the water will get warmer and uncomfortable for the fishes.
It is very important to clean the aquarium frequently. However you need to be careful while washing it. Detergent cannot be used as it can harm the fishes and can even kill them. You need to use warm water and sponge. Other than that any thing can harm the fishes. You need to take care of them first. There needs to be a plug socket near the aquarium. You also need to place it far from any heat sources. Then you need to place the sand carefully at the bottom. After that the aquarium heater needs to be placed inside carefully. After that you need to pour water in it and then it is time on switch on the heater. This is important to keep that water temperature perfect for the fishes. Neon tetras, tiger barbs are fishes that you can easily keep. You can also keep gruppies. They look beautiful and lively inside the aquarium. You need not add more than 2-3 fishes at a time. If you put too many fishes at once then it can cause a trauma for them. It is important to keep the fishes happy. It will feel lovely to see these colorful creatures swimming freely inside the aquarium. Your room will get a lovely focal point for sure.

Tropical Fish Aquarium – How To Set Up Right Habitat For Your Fish
Posted: Jan 26, 2009 |Comments: 0

]]>
If you have the right habitat set up in your aquarium to suit your tropical fish you can rest assured that your fish will be happy and live long and healthy – perhaps even breed and add to the beauty of your tank. If you are in the mood to have some tropical fish as pets in your aquarium you must know how to set up their home for them. You must also know something about their eating habits as well as their breeding habits.
Tropical fish need a fairly large tank like 3 cubic feet or more. The tank must have clean and fresh water along with the equipment to keep the water that way. They need to have a lot of natural (not artificial) plants in the tank with a lot of grave that some of them love to muzzle through. If the fish are comfortable in their natural habitat they will soon begin to breed adding to your pleasure of fish keeping.
When it comes to tropical fish there is no dearth of choice between the species, and all are easily available in the local pet store. There are the smaller fish for small tanks such as Neons and Tetras. Angelfish and Guppies are a common variety of tropical fish in tanks and make good pets that are not too fussy about their environment and food. You could choose to keep larger fish such as Malawi’s or Cichlids. However, you should bear in mind that Chichlids are cannibals and can turn on each other when they are hungry, so keep them well fed if you want them in your tank. Some of the other variety of tropical fish include Dempsey’s, Parrots, Black Belts, Oscars and Jaguars.
Tropical fish live in freshwater so your tropical fish aquarium is a freshwater aquarium. Ensure that the water you fill into the tank is completely purified and made to stand for a couple of hours in a bucket before you fill it in the tank. You should take at least a month to set up the tank with the necessary equipment such as electric pumps and filters, lighting, feeders, gravel, plants and any other decoration you may want to do to the tank. After all this is done you can then go about getting you fish, which must also be done slowly. Purchase them in pairs and put them in the tank as and when you get them.
Setting up the tank in advance gives the time for the bacteria to circulate, this assists the fish to settle down in their new home. Bacteria in the tank is extremely important to the fish as it is the bacteria that cleans the tank of fish excreta.
It is important to clean the tank regularly, like once in 6 weeks. This will ensure a healthy environment for your fish.

How to set up those tropical fish tanks? Im gonna provide u simple guide.
Shopping list:
tank
special mat to put under the tank ( so it won’t move)
lightning equipped cover
filter
sand or gravel
some plants for start
optional:
Heater (if u want to keep fishes or plants that like higher temps)
Solid case designed for aquariums (if u don’t have something solid to place it already)
decorations like : rocks, caves, stones, roots
Fish tank set up guide:
Put the mat on a solid case then u can place the tank on it. Put the cover on top.
Make sure that u place a tank far from window, so that sun light wont operate on it.
Install the filter as it says in the manual double check if you done it right.
Then start placing gravel. On the back of your tank there should be 24-28 inches (8-9cm) and then sliding towards the front where you should have something like 16 inches ( 4cm) of it.
You may want to put some decorations inside like stones, roots or caves but don’t be silly buying any divers or boats.
Then pour gently water till you reach like 9-15 inches (3-5cm) so you can start planting.
Then you can fill the rest of the tank with water, launch your filter + lightning.
You should now wait for about 2-3 weeks in this time your new aquarium will maturate, after that you can go on and buy fish.
Stay tune for more articles on the subject of tropical fish tanks.

So you want to have your own freshwater tropical aquarium fish, but don’t know where to start? Luckily, I’ll explain the steps you need to take in order to setup a fish tank and select a species of fish that will adapt to the environment you have envisaged.
There are two types of tropical fish, and they are saltwater tropical fish, and freshwater tropical fish. Here I’ll be explaining the ways to setup a tank containing freshwater tropical fish.
Aquarium Cycling
Before putting your pet tropical fish in your fish tank, your fish tank needs to go through a phase known as aquarium cycling. It’s important this phase is undertaken before you put your fish in your fish tank, otherwise you may run into a variety of problems. I know it can be tempting to get straight into it and immediately put your fish in the tank once there’s water in there, but hang on for just a moment!
The Nitrogen cycle is the first phrase of aquarium cycling, and involves ridding the water of all the excess nitrogen that it has before the water is deemed fit for animal life. Sounds a little complex? Don’t worry. Your best way to prepare the water in your fish tank so that you can place tropical fish in it is by planting your tank. This involves putting lots of nice sea plants within your tank that help to rid excess nitrogen and make the water suitable for your fish to swim in.
The next thing you’ll need is a filter that is able to absorb foreign materials and particles from the water, ensuring that it stays fresh and recycled at all times. You may also consider purchasing an air stone, which come in addition to your air filter. This will allow your fish tank to display various bubble effects.
In terms of selecting your actual fish tank, any tank should do unless you want to customize your aquarium to a specific species of tropical freshwater fish. Speaking to your pet shop owner is a good idea as they’ll be able to help you select a fish tank specific to your needs.
In terms of selecting the actual species of freshwater tropical fish, you need to be mindful that some species don’t get along with one another. It’s not uncommon for some species to bully, or even eat other species. The last thing you want to do is spend a small fortune acquiring the rarest and most exotic of freshwater tropical fish only to have them eaten by some antisocial tropical fish breed who doesn’t think they’re as beautiful as you do!
Once your fish tank is setup, and you have selected the types of fish you wish to place in your tank, all that remains is literally putting them in! Be mindful that feeding patterns and lighting can affect the way your fish live and behave. Be aware of potential fish diseases as well as good and bad types of fish food that you can feed specific species of tropical fish.

1. Tank Decisions
Decide on the size of tank you want and the material its made of. Choose from glass or acrylic, with and without metal frames. Acrylic will be lighter but tends to scratch. You will not want a tank less than 45 cm long, 30 cm wide and 30 cm deep unless you are buying it as a hospital, quarantine or breeding tank.
Because the numbers of fish you can have in a tank is based on the surface area of your aquarium (width x length) the depth is irrelevant. As a rule, divide the surface area by 12 to get the length in fish you can accommodate. For example a 24 x 12 x 12 (inches) tank has a surface area of 288 sq ins and will accommodate 24 inches of fish; 24 x 1 inch or 12 x 2 inch fish etc etc.
But bear in mind that you should use the adult length of the fish in your calculations. Otherwise your aquarium will become overcrowded as the your fish grow and there will probably not be enough oxygen to sustain them.
2. Heating System
Unless you are planning to stock cold water fish only, then you will need to install a heater and thermostat (separate or combined). Often a glass tube with both of them in will be used with temperature control on the top of it and a separate thermometer installed.
You may need to fit two heaters in larger tanks to ensure the heat is distributed evenly. Allowing 10 watts per gallon of water would mean a 150 watt heater for a 12 gallon tank.
3. Lighting System
Lighting is necessary for plant growth and also shows off the fish at their colorful best. Fluorescent tubes are available for this purpose and give off less heat than other types of bulb. The lights are usually installed into your tank cover. And remember that fish don’t want a tank lit up for 24 hours.
Mimic nature by subduing the light or turning it off in the evenings. Your ventilated cover will not only hold the lighting system but also protect the fish from household pollutants (sprays, dust, dirt etc) but keep them from jumping out and prevent loss of water by evaporation.
4. Aeration and Filtration
An air pump is not essential and if it used to get more oxygen (and therefore more fish) into your tank and it fails then your fish will die! But it can be used in combination with a filter to clean up the water. For example a filter may have a combination of a physical layer of material to collect fine solids and a layer of charcoal to chemically adsorb organic pollutants and maintain the water quality.
Air can be passed into the tank via air stones on the end of the tubing. Ensure you have a n anti-siphon valve for the air pump. Use of an under gravel filter (a biological filter) system involves a flat plate with outlets that goes under the gravel substrate and is powered by an air pump pushing air and water through the substrate which encourages bacteria to develop in it that will break down the toxic waste products from the fish, dead plants etc.
5. Tank Aquascaping
Decorations cover real rocks, synthetic rocks, real wood, synthetic wood and background panorama. They act as areas for the fish to hide and for shelter if they feel like it. Also as a resting area at night or in the day for nocturnal species. Look out for rocks with a high calcium content (limestone) as that will make your water hard and unless a specific requirement will not do any good. And do not use any that appear to have metallic content in them.
Caves can be set up for cave-dwelling species by joining a few rocks together with silicone sealant or you could buy a purpose made one. Rocks can be built up to form the background or you could employ a photographic underwater scene wrapped around the back and sides of the tank to great effect. Use your rocks and logs etc to hide your equipment from view.
Remember to wash not only your decorations but also your substrate gravel which will slope from about 2 inches deep at the front to 3 inches deep at the back. Run water through the gravel until it becomes clear.
You are only restricted by your imagination when developing your aquascape. But bear in mind that you want to maintain a balance and keep a realistic amount of free swimming area for both the fish and you to see them enjoying themselves.
The remaining five steps in setting up your tropical fish tank covering water quality, aquarium plants, fitting out your aquarium, selecting healthy fish and adding fish to your tank, can be accessed below.

Freshwater Aquarium Fish are Good Choice for Beginners

Saltwater aquarium tanks can be quite challenging to set up and properly maintain. However, before you go jumping the gun and spending hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars on this expensive hobby; it would be prudent to learn the basics of how to take care of your fish and provide them the environment that they need to stay healthy.
Equipment you will need: Aquarium – wash with water only, (do not use any soaps), before filling it! Aquarium gravel – to 1.5 pounds of gravel per gallon of water. Also, be sure to wash your gravel in a strainer or something before putting it in your tank. Aquarium filter Heater – make sure that the heater you use is capable of heating the size of your aqaurium Decorations – (like a sunken Spanish treasure ship!) Testing kit – for testing the water\’s ph balance and nitrogen content Fish Food Vacuum Fish net Glass scrubber
That\’s quite a list and it\’s only the beginners list! As you grow your aquarium and learn more about your new hobby, you\’ll want to add “extras”.
In order to have a successful freshwater tropical fish tank you will have to work at it. Once a week, or at most once every two weeks, you will need to perform some kind of maintenance on the tank. Most of the time you will be performing water changes.
Try to have in mind what kind of fish you\’re going to want to have in your aquarium because that will determine the size of the tank you\’ll need. Some fish only grow to be an inch or two, whereas other types of tropical fish can grow 12 or 13 inches or more in length! If this is your first time purchasing an aquarium, it may be a good idea to start with a 10 or 20 gallon aquarium and stock it with some of the smaller and hardier species.
Consider where you are going to place your aquarium. If you put it in front of a window or near a drafty door, you\’ll have problems maintaining the temperature of your tank. Try to find a place away from these problem areas.
Once you have everything set up, decorations, water filtrations system, heater and your tank filled; wait. You need to wait several days for your aquarium to have completely filtered and processed the water in the tank. Once that occurs – you\’re ready to add some life to your tank.
Add only 1-2 fish to your tank at a time. Allow the bag of fish to float in the tank for about 15 minutes to the fish can get acclimated to the temperature of their new home. Then add a little of the tank water to the bag in order for your fish to get used to the ph of the aquarium. Afer another 10 minutes or so, you can release your fish into their new home. Don\’t feed them on this first day as they will most likely be stressed and they just need to get used to the new environment.
You now have a live working aquarium and it only needs regular maintenance for you to be able to enjoy it year round.

If your dog is out in the cold for long periods of time, especially if the temperatures are below zero it can surely freeze your dog to death.

DIY Home Made Many Geyser fish / coy aquaculture / aquarium / tank bio filter. A self cleaning filter that provides mechanical filtration down to 5 micron and bio filtration for up to 1.5 pounds of feed per day using LDPE beads which float up and pack together. Air bubbles up through the beads to break them apart and release trapped solids. The solids are pulled down in a second chamber where they settle out for easy draining at a later time. This idea has been taken from a patent. So its from the public record and free to view, but you can not make a profit from these device! To do so would infringe the patent. However there is no law that says you can not imitate such a device for your own personal use.

Tropical Aquarium
A tropical aquarium is a beautiful addition to any home,in fact one of my earliest memories is of my dads tropical fish tank.
They are quite easy to set up but take a lot of time and care to mantain properly. To set up your first tropical aquarium you will need.
A fish tank with a light unit ,filter, thermometer, heater, air pump, gravel, plants, rocks or wood, net, algae scrapper, water conditioner, fish food.
STEP1
Make sure your fish tank is not in direct sunlight, this could cause the water to over heat and will promote the growth of algae. Make sure your fish tank is dead level and on a rock solid stand. Put in the gravel to a depth of around two or three inches and decorate with rocks or wood and if you are not planning on real plants then you can place your plastic plants in your tank. Don’t go overboard as your tank will look cluttered and your fish will have no room to swim.
STEP 2
Wash out your fish tank with cold water, fit the filter, thermometer, heater and air pump (chances are you bought a fish tank with all this ready setup for you). Fill your fish tank with cold tap water then flick the switch to power up all of your equipment. You should set the temperature to between 22-29 degrees centigrade. Then wait and wait and wait i think you get the message, don’t add any fish for at least three weeks. This gives the water time to get rid of all the chlorine and for the filter system to build up some good bacteria. I usually put a little pinch of fish food in the tank to help speed this up,or if you have a friend with a clean healthy aquarium then add a pint or two of water from his tank.
STEP 3
While your tank is maturing why not choose your fish and plants. Choose fish with care, make sure you find out how big they will be when they are fully grown, that is a mistake i made with my first tank. I bought a pleco for my three foot tank, big mistake the fish can grow to around two feet in length. But as with most things you learn from your mistakes. I tend to go for one big show fish and a few medium size tank cleaning catfish.
STEP 4
Now after three to four weeks you can add your fish i do this one every week or two so i can keep an eye on them. There is nothing worse than buying lots of fish and they all die after a few days because the tank wasn’t quite ready. Use the Equalising method to add your new fish to the tank, by floating the fish using their bag. Leave them there for 15 – 20 minutes, then open the bag and little by little add small amounts of water from your aquarium to the bag. Then release them and enjoy, tropical fish are so relaxing to watch you will get years of pleasure from a well looked after tropical tank.
